Tony was sitting at his desk in his study, hand impatiently tapping on the solid wood, as he was glancing at his gold engagement ring. He thought that proposing to Steve was tough. And maybe it was. At that moment. Since he had proposed, they were happy with each other. Very happy. But what was bugging Tony was that, that.. Steve didn't want more.

They were engaged. Sure. They proudly called the other fiance.

But what about calling the other husband?

After the NYE party they never discussed their future wedding.

Would it ever take place? When, where? Or.. would they be engaged for their whole lives?

Tony had no idea how to put Steve's mind back on the wedding topic. No idea.

What if Steve didn't mention their wedding on purpose? Maybe he didn't want to get married? Maybe he agreed to Tony's proposal out of impulse? Maybe he was regretting it right now, in this very moment? Maybe..

"Babe, where are you?!"

Tony snapped out of his thoughts, hearing his soldier's voice.

"Here!" he called back. Steve stood in the threshold, clad in jeans and a t-shirt, a one day stubble on his face, which was still light and not very thick.

"Come on, we're ready to go," he smiled. Tony smiled back and joined Steve, his hand reaching automatically to touch soldier's rough chin.

Steve lightly slapped his hand away with a charming grin. "Not yet," he said calmly, not really getting why Tony loved when he grew a beard, but didn't complain.

Tony hissed, not pleased with being treated like that, but it was soon replaced with a smile. "JARVIS, take care of the house while we are gone, will you?" Tony said on their way to the elevator.

"Of course, Sir," AI replied as polite as always.

"Bye, JARVIS!" Steve grinned.

"Goodbye, Captain. Enjoy your trip."

"Thanks," Tony smiled, elevator closing, taking them both to the garage.

"Where are we going?" he asked, opening the car door from the passenger side.

"You will see. Somewhere nice," Steve grinned, taking the wheel, zooming out from the garage.

Lately they started to to go for little trips. Nothing long - just for the weekend to get away from the superhero/army/company business. They were staying in small hotels, small towns, small chances for anyone to recognize them, and even if someone would, why Iron Man and Captain America be in such little town anyway?

To even more blend in, they tried to change their appearance a little. Before their first trip, Steve grew a beard and kept it for their other trips, but Tony firmly declined shaving his goatee.

"I can speak wiz ze French accant," he offered instead in a ridiculous voice.

"Stop that," Steve glared, knowing that Tony could speak perfect French and was goofing around.

"Come on, mate, maybe Australian?" and now perfect Australian.

"Tony," Steve warned.

"Not Australian? How about some British?" Tony asked in a low, husked voice, using the smooth British accent.

Steve shivered a bit, the low tremble in Tony's voice getting to him.

"Oh.." Tony teased, sitting on Steve's lap, "I see that the super soldier has a weakness for the Queen's accant." Things might have ended differently if Tony would finish this sentence entirely in a British accent, instead he decided to goof around again and said the last word in that horrible, fake French straight into Steve's ear. Steve started to laugh and had pushed Tony down from his lap, straight to the floor.

"No accents, Tony," Steve reminded, as they left New York, remembering their first trip.

"Sure," he nodded with a grin, leaning back in the seat, letting the soldier drive. "Just 100% American."

They reached the hotel after a few hours of calm ride.  It was situated off the road, near some small town which probably still remembered the pilgrims. Their room was small, neat, although the weird mix of colors, meaning bright yellow wall and bright green sheets on a small double bed, which just looked like a big single bed to Tony, made Tony chuckle, as he was used to totally different standards. But Steve looked happy, it looked cozy and inviting, not like those lifeless, modern hotels his boyfriend always chose.

The hotel was called "The Black Horse." It wasn't big, had a huge dining area decorated with a lot of wood and a real carriage, and owner explained to them that during winter they organize carriage rides for the guests. The hotel was connected to a stable, which, true to the hotel's name, had a beautiful black stallion and a light, cream colored mare. They watched with pleasure as both breathtaking horses were galloping at the range. The owner was a nice person and said that if they want to, they could go for a ride. Tony beamed, used to riding a horse, while Steve got startled and preferred not to. So while Tony was riding the black stallion, jumping through the obstacles the owner set on the range, Steve settled with caressing the cream mare, giving her sugar cubes and carrots.

It was nice, peaceful, serene. Despite everything Tony enjoyed the lack of technology around them, settling with the calm atmosphere. The thing he liked the most was that, that it was off season, so they were the only guests in the hotel. No one was bothering them, no kids running down the hall, no noises, just him and Steve..

Until the second night.

"We are hosting a wedding reception tonight," owner greeted them, while they got back to the hotel, late evening, as they spend the whole day on sightseeing. "But no worries, the hotel area will be closed, and we have really solid doors, so it should be quiet," he reassured them with a smile, and Steve smiled back, while Tony froze.

Wedding reception.

Steve booked the hotel. Did Steve know about this?

The more he thought about, the more he knew that Steve couldn't possibly know.

It wasn't a scheme from Steve.

Maybe it was the universe trying to tell him something..?

But the universe was clearly mocking him.

Quiet. It was no quiet and Tony woke up at 2 am to the blasting sounds of some wedding tunes. With a groan, he nuzzled more into Steve's neck, placing his head under soldier's chin. Light snoring above him told him that Steve was deep asleep. He had no idea how Steve could sleep in this ruckus. Or maybe he wasn't sleeping..

"Steve," Tony whispered and waited a moment. Nothing. Seemed Steve was sleeping. Tony sighed, his thoughts drifting to the dining area, now changed into the wedding area. To the happy couple, people wishing them the best, proud parents.. Scratch that, there won't be any parents at their wedding, their parents were long time dead. Why he started to think about their wedding again?

Okay, time to man up.

"Steve," Tony said firmer. Nothing. "Steeeeeeeeeveeeeeeee," he tried again, rubbing his head under Steve's chin. After a few moments, Steve snored for the last time.

"Wha.. Tony? What's wrong?" he asked sleepily.

"When we will get married?" Tony asked, not beating around the bush.

"What?" Steve looked down at his love, eyes wide.

"Our wedding, Steve. We are engaged, for a long time now, so the next step is the wedding. When?" Tony continued asking, his voice determined.

Steve started to smile. He was well aware what comes after the engagement, but didn't want to start the topic, knowing it could startle Tony.

"And when do you want it to happen?" Steve asked.

Tony thought about it for a moment. "Soon."

"Okay, then soon," Steve agreed, kissing his forehead, trying to get Tony's head back under his chin to get back to sleep.

"How soon?" Tony demanded, not letting Steve hug him. Steve laughed slightly at Tony's methods.

"Very soon. As soon as we get back home and we will start to prepare everything. Okay?"

"Okay," Tony smiled back, pleased with the outcome, nuzzling back into his soldier.

Steve hummed, happy that he didn't push on his genius and this all came out of him. He loved Tony. So, so much. With happy thoughts he drifted off to sleep.

Tony, on the other hand, snapped his eyes wide open. His heart pounding. Oh dear God, Tony Stark was getting married. With Steven Rogers. Iron Man was getting married to Captain America.

Soon. Real soon.

What the hell was he thinking..?

dun-dun-DUNNN.

Tony sounds just like a woman would.
